THE GUIDE TO BECOMING A PRO FISHERMAN.

July 8th, 2011

Every fisherman ultimately has one dream: to catch fish. However, as fishing and catching differ, this is easier said than done. Here are some tips to become the pro fisherman who actually catches!
Whether fishing off a boat, dock, or beach, remember to be prepared for the unthinkable. A pro fisherman constantly has multiple lines in the water, baited for any type of fish desired to catch that lurks the waters. More lines means more chances to hook.
It is also vital to maintain your fishing gear. Nobody wants to hook the monster fish only to realize the reel is stuck, the drag doesn’t work, or the rod tip is chipped. Salt water, or even some freshwater streams and lakes, damage reels and motors and decay rods. Be sure to thoroughly clean any equipment brought on a fishing trip with soap and water. For boaters, be sure to attach a water hose to your motor and turn it on. This will filter out the dirty water, seaweed, or any other unwanted gunk in the motor.
Be sure to always have extra of, well, everything! Picture this: a flock of birds thrash at the water, so you begin to investigate. Suddenly the water thrashed as well and a school of bluefish attack bunker on top of the water. You turn to quickly grab a rod and the proper lure from the tackle box and you start crying. You have no more bluefish lures. Be prepared with extra everything!
Another tip, which runs through fisherman of all ages, is the 90/10 guideline. Fishing is 90 patience and 10 skill. With the all-important virtue of patience and the skill of a pro fisherman, your fishing experience will quickly generate itself into a catching experience.
Lastly, have fun! The more fun you have, the more fish you will catch. Good luck fishermen!
