WHAT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS TO USE WHEN FISHING?

November 20th, 2011

When you are fishing you are going to have a lot of fun, but there are some safety precautions that you will want to take to protect yourself. Some of these precautions are more predictable than others. If fishing on a hot warm summers day you want to make sure you have applied sunscreen correctly to avoid over exposure to the sun, and also that you are hydrating yourself accurately. This will prevent you from getting sunburns that can be dangerous, and also from getting dehydrated. You also want to be careful getting wet in cold temperatures. Wet feet or fingers could cause frostbite, and not wearing enough clothing could cause hypothermia.

Knives are often taken on fishing tripe to clean fish, cut lines and more. Make sure that you knife is always in a safe place and put away properly. Also don’t allow those who are unfamiliar with the item to use it. Be sure that you can identify the fish that you have caught before grabbing it, or before putting your fingers in its mouth. This will prevent bites, or cuts that can easily become infected from the water the fish has come out of. Follow these instructions to have a safe and fun fishing trip.
